Third year support

Third year support

We know it can be a stressful time, so we’re doing as much as possible to help you through.

We know it can be a stressful time, so we’re doing as much as possible to help you through.

More ebooks for you!  Help choose what we buy

We’ll have tens of thousands of additional ebooks available via Library Search between December and May.  Just access and read whatever books you need and that will help us work out what to buy at the end of that time.  We’ve got money set aside and ready to spend.

Find all your reading lists online

All reading and resource lists should now be online at Resource Lists.  These link straight through to ebooks and journals, and tell you where in the library to find the print books you need.

Your list not there?  Let us know.

Even more online journals

We’re buying a new big package of journals – adding over 1,700 titles.  They’ll be hitting Library Search in December and cover such diverse fields as language & linguistics, literature, management & economics, environment, sports, leisure & tourism, and much more besides.

Books or journals that we don’t have?  We’ll get them!

Just use our interlibrary request service.  You get 25 requests as a final year student, and this year we’ve even dropped the charges.  Plus you can now get articles delivered via email.  We should have online requesting up and running soon too.

Don’t know where to start?

Get some one to one help with finding information in your subject.  Contact your Academic Liaison Librarian for advice.  You can find their details on your subject guide.

Need more quiet study space?

We block book meeting rooms in The Hive exclusively for students during assessment periods.  That’s 4th-17th January and 25th April - 9th May in 2016.

Free independent study/dissertation binding!

When you finish your independent study/dissertation, you’ll get it bound for free!  What more could you ask for? Thanks to our excellent Print Room colleagues for arranging this.

And finally…offload your old books!

Don’t want to take your old textbooks home?  Glad to see the back of them?  Give them to us and we’ll add them to next year’s Great Hive Book Rescue!  For a small donation to the SU’s Rag charities, other students will be able to buy and use your old books.  Look out for details near the end of semester 2.

Anything else we can do for you?

Send us an email, pop a message on our Facebook or fire a tweet.  We’re here to help!
