Great Hive Book Rescue

1400 books have new owners

1400 books have new owners

The Great Hive Book Rescue took place at The Hive, level 0 on Wednesday 5th October, uniting over 1400 pre-loved books with hundreds of new owners. Fiction, textbooks, reading for pleasure, there was everything from Iron Age archaeology to the Simpsons annual.

A massive thank you to everyone who attended for your enthusiasm and generous donations. We raised £692.51 for the Students’ Union RAG charities, more than double last year.

Especially large thanks go to all those students, staff and members or the public who kindly gave their books in the weeks running up to the event. All the remaining items get sent to Better World Books, a socially responsible business we’ve worked with for a while now. Better World will sell the books online, donating the proceeds to literacy charities in the UK and beyond. So you get new books and charities get much needed funds. Everyone wins!

See you next year…
