2020 Using other libraries

Content

University libraries

You can apply to visit other university libraries by filling in the SCONUL Access scheme application form. Please check which libraries are participating before you apply.

Before you apply, make sure that you have no outstanding fines or charges on your library account. We will let you know about your application as soon as possible, usually within two working days.

Full time undergraduates will usually have reference only access at other libraries, meaning you can’t borrow books. Staff and postgraduates might be able to borrow books. You won’t usually be allowed to use another university’s online resources either, although you can check this before visiting.

Make sure you check the opening hours for SCONUL Access visitors before visiting your chosen library. Take the email confirming your SCONUL application, as well as your University of Worcester ID card.

Worcestershire County Council libraries

You are already a member of all Worcestershire branch libraries as a member of the University.

This means that you can borrow books from these libraries. You can also return three week loan and University High Demand books you’ve borrowed from The Hive. Three week loan books can also be reserved from The Hive and collected at branch libraries. Staff can’t renew University High Demand books on their systems at branch libraries and you’ll need to do this on your library account.

Libraries Unlocked

Several county libraries are part of Libraries Unlocked, giving access from 8am to 8pm Monday- Saturday. To sign up to Libraries Unlocked contact the library you wish to visit. You'll need a public library card and to attend a short induction at the library you want to access. WCC's short video tells you more.
