Courses with Barr Beacon SCITT, Somerset SCITT and University College Weston
Courses with Heart of Worcestershire College and other University Awards
Courses where the students register with the University of Worcester
If you teach or support University of Worcester students on a partner course, you are eligible for access to a set of library resources. Please apply for registered lecturer or registered administrator / HE manager status to gain access.
Terms and conditions govern the use of these resources. Where access is allowed for staff in a partner organisation, this is limited to teaching or supporting University of Worcester students. The online resources must not be used in relation to the teaching or support of other students at the partner organisation. Online resources you have access to may not be shared with partner students who are not licensed to access those resources. Registered staff must comply with The University’s password requirements and information security guidelines.
Online resources available for students registered with the University of Worcester.
In addition to the resources detailed in this document, remote access to PsycInfo has been negotiated for students with Hereford College, Iron Mill College and HKMA.
Online resources available in The Hive. All learners, including those on directly funded programmes, can access these resources when they are in The Hive building with the library card available to them via the university.
In addition, remote access to a smaller set of online resources has been negotiated for trainees with Barr Beacon SCITT and Somerset SCITT, and for apprentices with University College Weston. Learners access these resources with a University of Worcester username and password which will be emailed to them.
For indirectly funded courses only (where the learners are registered with the university and the university reports the learner number to HESA), Library Services will purchase books you want your students to read in ebook format where there is an institutional purchase ebook available for us to purchase. To request an ebook, add it to your module resource list and send that list for review. Not all books are available for us to purchase in ebook format, and while we will purchase ebooks where we can, the partner remains responsible for making sure that learners have sufficient access to required reading.
Please recommend existing resources where appropriate. Subject to the limitations outlined in the previous section; available ebooks, journal articles and more can be discovered via Library Search. The Partnerships and Transitions Liaison Librarian is happy to offer further guidance and advice about what is available for your students.
If you, or one of your students, has a print disability such as a visual impairment, dyslexia, ADHD, autism or a physical impairment that makes using print difficult, we can give you /them access to accessible format texts via Bookshare. If a student has been referred to us via the Disability and Dyslexia Service, we may be in touch with you about key module texts so that we can ensure your student can access to the reading resources they need even if they are not available via Bookshare.
Should any of your learners require Bookshare you are able to join the scheme directly for free or a small fee.
Some copying is allowed subject to the limitations of the university's CLA licence. Further Education CLA licences do not cover university library resources. Use our straightforward digitisation service rather than uploading copies of published materials to Blackboard. We will do the copyright clearance for you, and ensure that the copy meets accessibility requirements.
We do not have a licence for copying or scanning resources for your learners
We do not have a licence for copying or scanning resources for your learners. Please note that Further Education CLA licences does not cover resources subscribed to or purchased by the university
Academic Liaison Librarians attend your classes on request to provide sessions on searching for, evaluating and referencing resources as well as sessions on systematic reviews, offering library tours and library inductions. Look at our teaching menu to get an idea of what we can offer and talk to your liaison librarian about how we can best work with you to support your students in developing their academic skills; and use the Learner Journeys Toolkit with your course team to ensure that your students receive appropriate skills support throughout their course.
The Ask a Librarian team is happy to answer any quick queries you or your students may have about finding, evaluating and referencing sources, and other library skills.
For more detailed queries contact the Partnerships and Transitions Liaison Librarian. The Partnerships and Transitions Liaison Librarian can help with queries about referencing policy, resource lists, or library teaching for your students as well as information about what resources the University Library Service can make available to your students.
