For quick queries we recommend using our Live Chat (available Monday-Friday 12-5, Saturday 12-2).
For more in-depth one-to-one, online support with using library resources, referencing or academic integrity support you can book an online appointment with a Liaison Librarian.
Your online appointment can last for up to 30 minutes and takes place on Teams. You will be sent a link via email, so please make sure you enter your email address correctly when booking.
Appointment, chat and email guidelines
What we can do
We offer advice on research, independent studies, essays or other projects. This may include:
- Helping you find and use the right databases and resources for your topic
- Advising you on your literature searching strategies
- Providing guidance on referencing and using referencing software
What we can’t do
- Explain your assignment brief or learning outcomes
- Conduct your literature searches for you
- Offer qualitative assessment of references found through a literature search
- Write or proof-read your work or references
- Check and correct more than a sample of your references
- Offer feedback on your work or the mark you receive
- Help with specific research methodology
- Provide ongoing support or tuition, including multiple interventions on one assignment
- Give you advice on essay-writing or other study skills. We recommend the University's study skills guidance, and student support including the Centre for Academic English and Skills and writers-in-residence.
We have a limit of one appointment per calendar month, or four per year, whichever is reached first.
