Black History Month

To mark Black History Month, here’s a round-up of our activity:

We’ve got some great displays in The Hive foyer, celebrating black authors and figures from around the world, as well as promoting some authors just for children (video 0:45).

If you’re not planning to pop in to the Hive this month, why not take a look at our Black History Month resource list? This list celebrates black authors, poets, and artists, and includes works on being an ally, as well as films, performances and podcasts. Email us if you want us to add anything! We’ll carry on adding to this throughout October and beyond.

We also know that Black History Month is more than just a month - and is certainly a lot more than book displays and reading lists. Here at Library Services, we’re currently developing an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion action plan, which will include anti-racist commitments. Check back on our webpages and social media to see our progress and let us know if there are specific things you think we should be doing.
