Registered with the University of Worcester

As a student registered with the University, but based in another institution, you have access to various resources and services.  Students studying a University of Worcester approved course delivered solely by their college have a different level of access.  If you are not based in Worcester, we provide a set of services to help you study away from the University.

Online resources

Library Search will help you discover our online resources, including articles and ebooks.  Books held in The Hive are also included.

As a member of the University, you can borrow books from The Hive and also all Worcestershire County Council libraries using your student ID card.

Renewals can be made via your library account, in person at The Hive or at any Worcestershire County Council library.  You will be sent an email reminder two days before your items are due back, however it is your responsibility to remember to return or renew books on time. Unless a book is reserved you can renew it up to 9 times.  University Short Loan items cannot be renewed.

Place a reservation

If a book is on loan to someone else and you want to borrow it you can make a reservation via your library account.

University High Demand books (blue labels) cannot be reserved if there is a copy available on the shelves.  Short Loan books (orange labels) cannot be reserved.

You will receive an email to your university account telling you when the item is available for collection.  We will give you 14 days to collect your books. University high demand (blue sticker) books will be held for 7 days.

Reservations are collected from Level 1 of The Hive and are shelved in alphabetical order by borrower surname.

Books and articles not held in The Hive

If you are looking for an item we do not stock in The Hive or Worcestershire County Council libraries, you can make an inter-library request

Use a university library closer to you

You may be able to use university libraries closer to home by applying to join the SCONUL Access scheme.  Before deciding which library to visit, check Library Hub Discover, a catalogue of many university libraries, to see which one has books of interest.

Printing and copying

To add credit to your student card, either use the top up kiosks located at St John's Campus, City Campus or The Hive, or top up via your student portal

Printing and copying charges are as follows:

  • Mono: 5p per A4 sheet and 10p per A3 sheet
  • Colour 25p per A4 sheet and 50p per A3 sheet

The Hive has dual purpose printers and photocopiers. All machines have both functions. Printer/copiers are available on Levels 0-3. All machines can be used for black and white or colour printing.

Fines can be paid in person in The Hive or at firstpoint.

If you have lost a UW item, or your book is more than 90 days overdue you will be charged a standard replacement fee:
